Chris Rock Urges Fans to “Get Vaccinated”
Chris Rock has tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19).
On Sunday, 19 September, the 56-year-old comedian shared the news via Twitter.
He tweeted: “Hey guys, I just found out I have COVID-19, trust me you don’t want this. Get vaccinated.”
The “Bad Company” actor elaborated further on his condition, but he has on previous occasions shared his enthusiasm for getting vaccinated, as he told Jimmy Fallon during a talk on “The Tonight Show” in May.
Rock jokingly told Fallon that he used his fame to “skip the line” to get the Johnson & Johnson jab.
He said: “I didn’t care. I was like, ‘Hey, step aside, Betty White, step aside, old people, Judge Judy.’”
According to information released by the Centre for Disease Control, people who have received the COVID-19 vaccine are greatly less at-risk for getting infected, enduring serious illness, or being hospitalised from the virus.
Many fans and friends have wished Rock well in his recovery, telling him to “take care” and “get well soon”.
One user tweeted: “Light, Love and healing.”
Fellow funny person, Sarah Silverman, shared her support and tweeted: “Love you. REST[sic]”
